As the owner of 9 rescued dogs and 4 rescued cats, I have a major soft spot for the work of local rescue and shelter organizations. Resources are limited and many shelter staff and rescues simply don’t have the funds to have an onsite trainer or behaviorist.
I have worked with Humane Society of Indianapolis, Indianapolis Animal Care and Control, Indy Pit Crew, Mended Hearts Indy, Casa del Toro and others to provide behavioral assessements and training.
I have studied and used Sue Sternberg’s Assess-A-Pet method as well as the ASPCA Safer assessment. I was trained by Nina Gaither, who designed and implemented the behavior assessment program at Humane Society of Indianapolis in 2008. I have also studied Sue Sternberg’s Train to Adopt program and it’s application in shelter pets.
I am willing to consult on specific behavioral cases and provide basic Train to Adopt training to your staff for free.
